I asked some basic questions: Does you hosting support mod_rewrite (Yes), Does you hosting support mod_security (didn’t know, but checked), and do you keep your Fantastico up-to-date with the latest versions (Yes)? Support was nice enough, and keep to know what they were talking about. The representative obviously wasn’t reading from a prompt (no delay with answers).

Joomla is a powerful Content Management System. Many webmasters are using Joomla and it’s unique in server requirements. Not every Webhost supports Joomla. Before getting your own joomla supported webhosting. Please read below requirements firstly..

What are Joomla minimum requirements?

In a nutshell: PHP 4.2.x or above, MySQL 3.23.x or above, Apache 1.3.x or above
Detailed requirements (takes you to Joomla.org)

What are Joomla specific requirements?

Safe Mode OFF – Needed to work properly

mod_rewrite Enabled – Needed for Search Friendly Urls

.htaccess support – Needed for Search Friendly Urls

XML Support – Needed for installing applications

GD support – Needed for Joomla components

Ability to set files/folders permissions – Needed to work properly

MySQL and Zlib – Needed to work properly

Fantastico Auto Install- Easy Joomla Install in just a few clicks

As you can see, Joomla has many requirements. If you buy web space from a host that does not support these, you will have problems or not be able to use Joomla at all. Save your time and money and go for the proven ones.

What we recommend?

We have very good experience with BlueHost and HostGator. In fact the page you are reading right now is being run on Bluehost web hosting.

Bluehost for Joomla Hosting

Bluehost web hosting servers are super fast and they offer solid Joomla environment. There are some tweaks that need to be done for advanced Joomla functions, but we will help you do it if you ask nicely.

bluehost-review-coupon.org, after running with bluehost for a few months and had zero downtime and the forum and blog have been very fast. We’re sure that bluehost is very fast and stable web hosting provider.

I have been hosting with bluehost for around a couple of months now, and have a couple of domains with them. I don’t have much time to type this up as I am fairly busy with work, but I felt I owe them a thankyou for the awesome service I receive from the 2 domains I have hosted with them.

I have a fairly active forum with no less than 60 active members browsing the boards at any time, and they sure are quick to complain if anything goes down. During the time I have been with bluehost I have had ZERO downtime, and my forum has been consistently fast.

I have had no problems during my stay so far, and HG even went to the trouble of installing an SSL cert for free for me as I didn’t have the funds in my PayPal account. bluehost, I salute you. They truelly know what they are doing, their support is consistent and rapid and their servers maintained incredibly well.

Thankyou for providing me with an honest, efficient and excellent service. I really am glad I chose bluehost and have no problem in fully commending them to anyone I meet.

bluehost webhosting is really fast and reliable.

With real bluehost uptime monitoring performed on this bluehost hosted website.

For the pass 20 months, bluehost hosting had performed well, except for previous month. At september 2008, bluehost upgrading their hosting servers and this had caused some unexpected problems and many service downtime detected for few days during the whole month. Finally, the september service uptime recorded at below 97% only.

Bluehost support team had completed the server upgrade on this server (for this website), and hopefully, their service uptime will recover and gets better than before. The server performance should improved as well, as the result of the server upgrade.

Is bluehost hosting having issue/problem lately? Why is their server downtime increased dramatically, and the bluehost technical support team is so hard to be reach? What is the caused for this bluehost problems?

I having difficulties to get connected to bluehost live chat, and the fact is that their waiting queue is taken too long. Even after you are connected to available live chat support, they are too busy and expect to be serve slowly as well. What’s wrong with bluehost lately??

I was told that the server that i am using is having hard disk RAID crash… they not sure what caused this server problem but they are investigating on it. They get the hardware replace, and website restored, thanks that bluehost performed server backup earlier. Following few days, my website is still having some downtime problem occasionally, and the cause is still unknown.

I understood & told by bluehost support that they are upgrading their servers.. its a major server hardware upgrading and lots of servers are involved. Is this mean most of bluehost technical team are too busy with the server upgrading work, and no time to perform their routine to maintain the server in good condition??

Fact is that, during the server upgrading process, the downtime should be keep to the minimum. And thus not causing lots more other problem to customer. If customers having problem they will go bugs the support team, and causing the support team to be even more tight up with their work.
